Christian Contemplative Prayer is the opening of mind and heart - our whole being - to God. The goal is to move beyond thoughts, words, emotions and even consciousness itself. The root of Christian contemplative prayer is interior silence. Though we think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words, this is only one expression. Contemplative prayer is an experience of God’s presence in which our being is rooted. We are transformed and healed simply by being in the presence of God.
Using the writing and teaching of Father Thomas Keating, our group has read and grown in our knowledge of the false self vs. the true self. We continue to learn and experience the presence of God as we enter into silence and a nearer presence to God.
The group meets in the church every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. AAAalaksdjfAll are welcome to come to join the contemplative prayer group.
