Focus on Faith is an invitation to journey deeper into faith through baptism, confirmation or reaffirming your faith.  In this journey, you are asked to ponder the question, " Where am I in the Kingdom of God?"  Trinity-by-the-Cove invites you participate in our Focus on Faith program.

Focus on Faith is a catechumenal process, a legacy from the ancient church, in which the parish mentors adults through a journey marked by special liturgies and prayers within the worship community.  Sessions meet on Sunday following the 11:15 service in the Conference Room with a light lunch, reflection on scripture, and topical presentation

The group meets from January - April. 

 Pre-Lenten Retreat 

 The pre-Lenten Retreat is at DaySpring Conference Center, Ellenton, FL.  This is one of the highlights of the Focus on Faith program. It is important that you are able to attend this weekend.   There is time for reflection as you enjoy hiking, canoeing, reading, napping, etc.

The topic for the retreat focuses on our Spiritual Gifts.  We explore our spiritual  gifts through a multi-media course by looking at our spiritual gifts, our passion,  our personal style and ministry style.  This is a time to understand God's call in each of our lives and to gain the confidence to move into the ministry that God  has equipped you to do.  It also gives you permission to decline ministries that do   not fit your gifts and style.

Phases of the Catechumenal Process

Time of Inquiry

The emphasis is on scripture reflection and the sharing of our stories. We ponder the connections between our life experiences and the Gospel proclamations. The topics for group presentations include the history of the Church, The Book of Common Prayer and using the Bible. The sessions are led by clergy and staff of Trinity.

Time of Formation

How is life lived in a Christian context? This is the question examined in the season of the Incarnation of Christ. Meditations on prayer and prayer practices and on the place of scripture in our lives pose the question, “what is my ministry and how do I make it better?” This period concludes with a weekend retreat at Dayspring, the diocesan retreat center in Ellenton, FL.

Time of Preparation

Focus on Faith will present a Seder Supper for the parish family on Palm Sunday. During the season of Lent we will focus on prayer and preparation for the sacraments.

Time of Reflection 

The year closes with a sending forth and blessing of our vocations; followed by Baptism, Confirmation or Reaffirmation of Faith.  You may call Associate Rector, Alice Sadler for more information (262-6581 ext. 206).
