February
21st, Sunday, at 4 pm
the
King of instruments: organ recital by John fenstermAKer.
Trinity-by-the-Cove’s own director of music plays the celebrated
Casavant organ as no one else can: music by Wolfgang Mozart,
Louis Vierne, Richard Purvis, and the rarely-heard Persian Suite
(1915) by Massachusetts composer Roy Spaulding Stoughton. The
organ has recently been increased in size, adding new voices:
flute celeste, principal, vox humana, chimes. The thirty-two
foot Basse Acoustique will shake the church. |
March 14th, Sunday, at 4 pm
the
virtuoso Piano: recital by victor rosenbAum
A renowned performer and teacher, Rosenbaum has taught at
Juilliard, Eastman and the New England Conservatory of Music,
and was director of the Longy School of Music from 1985 to 2001.
His highly-praised recording of Schubert was described as “a
powerful and poignant record of human experience.” The program
will include works by Brahms, Chopin and Haydn. |
April 25th, Sunday, at 4 pm
A
Cathedral evensong:
the Choir of trinity-by-the-Cove
Thomas Tallis,
William Byrd and T. Tertius Noble are some of the English
composers whose music you will hear at this lovely service of
psalms and anthems. Evensong has been sung in cathedrals,
parishes and chapels for more than 500 years. This is a rare
opportunity to experience sublime choral music, sung in the
ancient style. |
Directions:
From U.S.41 in downtown Naples, take Central Avenue west (towards
the gulf). Turn left on Second Street South(which later becomes Gordon Drive).
Continue for 1.9 miles. Turn left on Galleon Drive. The church is on
the right.
